A total of €10 million funding has been announced by the government to upgrade and improve Ireland's 14 Institutes of Technology.

The funding will allow the Institutes to discharge costs already incurred on a range of small-scale building works, refurbishment of existing facilities and upgrading equipment.

The Minister for Education and Skills, Jan O'Sullivan, T.D., said: "From my contact with the Institutes, I am very much aware that this funding has proved invaluable to them in the past as they strive to maintain and improve their existing infrastructure. This funding is firm evidence of my Department's continued commitment to funding improvement and upgrading works in our country's educational institutions for the benefit of all students."
