Finance Minister Mervyn Storey has given a keynote speech at the 100th meeting of the Construction Industry Group for Northern Ireland's Professionals Council.
Mr Storey confirmed the government working in partnership with the construction industry will help to boost recovery, sustain jobs and deliver key infrastructure projects.
He said: "The Executive's budget should give much-needed certainty to the construction industry. Future planning is key in this industry and that's why we have delivered funding commitment for significant infrastructure projects in this year’s budget and for the four years after 2016/17. The Executive's agreement for strategic flagship projects include the construction of the first regional mother and children’s hospital as well as building the A6 road and the Newbuildings to Strabane section of the A5 road, investment in Belfast Rapid Transport and Belfast Transport Hub.
"Infrastructure funding commitment for five years gives the construction industry certainty and shows how we in government, and in particular my Department through the Central Procurement Directorate have listened and worked with the industry to support its recovery."
