An apprentice from South Eastern Regional College (SERC) has won gold at the Skillbuild NI Finals in Enniskillen, Co Fermanagh.

SERC apprentice Jemuel Chamos (brickwork) took part in the competition and scooped the top prize.

Altogether, 80 construction apprentices competed against each other and tested their skills in nine different construction trades at the Skillbuild NI Finals.

John Nixon, Head of School for Construction and Engineering at SERC, said: "Competitions like Skillbuild NI provide a unique stage for the apprentices to demonstrate the skills and expertise they have gained whilst studying at the College.

"This high profile competition attracts the best up and coming young talent in a range of construction trades from across the province. Their success is a credit to the lecturers and employers who have been supporting them in advance of the intense competition."

Skillbuild NI, which is run and governed by CITB NI, is held annually each spring with the top local construction apprentices competing to win titles ranging from brickwork to wall and floor tiling.
