Primary School Pupil Wins Junior Section Of Environmental Speaking Competition

A primary school pupil in Clady, Ballymena, has won the junior section of an environmental speaking competition.

Liam Harte from St Columba's Primary School scooped the award at the Environmental Youth Speak Northern Ireland Finals held at the Theatre at the Mill in Antrim.

Lucia Orsi from Assumption Grammar School, Ballynahinch, scooped the top spot in the senior section.

The environmental speaking competition gives pupils the opportunity to speak about their opinions on environmental issues such as reducing waste at a local and global level.


Deputy Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor John Blair said: "I am delighted that we have the pleasure of hosting the Northern Ireland finals of Environmental Youth Speak this year. The standard of presentations in this competition is exceptionally high and the judges had an extremely difficult task in selecting the overall Northern Ireland winner. I would like to take this opportunity to praise all of the students for making the finals and congratulate the overall Northern Ireland winners; Liam Harte from St Columba's Primary School, Clady and Lucia Orsi from Assumption Grammar School, Ballynahinch."
