The Department of Education has allocated funding to create a new purpose built facility for Gaelscoil Éanna in Northern Ireland.
Sinn Féin National chairperson and candidate in the forthcoming Assembly election Declan Kearney welcomed the announcement.
Mr Kearney said: "The news of this investment is a huge boost for Gaelscoil Éanna and Irish medium Education in South Antrim area. It follows many years of hard work by those involved in the school project; the teachers, parents, families and their supporters.
"Despite Gaelscoil Éanna only opening 9 years ago it has flourished through hard work, a reputation for educational excellence, and an amazing community ethos. The size of this latest investment vindicates the commitment of local parents who have chosen to send their children to the school.
"I warmly congratulate the school management and board of governors on achieving this huge next step, and commend Minister John O'Dowd's decision to approve the funding."
