An application for planning permission has been submitted for almost 50 co-op houses to be developed in Poppintree, Dublin.
The 49 new houses will include two, three and four bed units.
Dublin City Councillor Noeleen Reilly welcomed the news.
She said: "O'Cualann Co-housing Alliance has worked tirelessly to get this development of the ground.
"I would hope that this model once completed can be replicated across Ballymun to give local people the opportunity to buy their own home at an affordable price.
"It will also help improve the social mix in the area which we currently struggle with."
