NI construction firm Farrans has started work to extend a primary school in the London Borough of Barnet.
The £4.2 million design and build contract at Monkfrith Primary School involves the construction of new modular classroom blocks to expand the school's current 1FE capacity to 2FE.
Works on the scheme also include the infilling of an existing courtyard to provide new accommodation, an extension to the existing dining room and external works. Minor internal refurbishment works are also required to the main circulation spaces of the existing building.
Glenn Gilmore, Contracts Manager at Monkfrith, said: "Although this is one of the smaller projects we are currently involved with, it represents one of the most logistically challenging. The site is located in a relatively restricted residential area and the topography is difficult for both ourselves and the school."
The project is expected to be completed by March 2017.
