Construction work on a new Irish school in Ballymun, Dublin, is to start this summer.
Work on the Gaelscoil Bhaile Munna was expected to commence in 2014, however following a planning objection the work was unable to proceed.
Sinn Fein Councillor Noeleen Reilly welcomed the news and confirmed a Letter of Intent has been sent to the preferred tenderer.
She said: "I want to congratulate parents and teachers for all the work they have done in securing the new building.
"The new school will include a number of new classrooms, a community hall which can benefit the entire community and better parking facilities.
"Parents and Children alike are delighted by the new school development. Children deserve the opportunity to be educated in the best possible conditions and to date that had not been happening."
