Sinn Fein is urgently calling on the Government to release more funding to local authorities after it was revealed it will take over 27 years to clear the housing list in Ballyfermot, Dublin.
According to the latest housing report by Dublin City Council, over 180 families have been on the waiting list for over ten years.
Chair of Dublin City Council's housing committee, Cllr Doolan, described the figures as a "damning indictment of consecutive governments housing policy".
He said: "Fianna Fail, Labour, and Fine Gael have starved local government of essential funding. We need a new direction in housing. The new Fine Gael government claimed that housing would be priority. Now is the time to prove that.
"Dublin City Council has the land, but we lack the funding. The much promised government funding for local authorities must be released as a matter of urgency."
