The Health Service Executive (HSE) has submitted a planning application to develop a new ambulance station in Edenderry, Co Offaly.

The recent removal of the ambulance crew in Edenderry to Tullamore is a huge concern to the local community, according to Sinn Féin TD for Offaly and North Tipperary, Deputy Carol Nolan.

Deputy Nolan welcomed the plans and said she hoped the works will continue without undue delay.

She said: "The provision of adequate ambulance services to the town of Edenderry is essential and we will continue to keep the pressure on relevant officials within the HSE and the National Ambulance service until this issue is resolved fully.

"I call on the HSE and the National Ambulance Service to redouble their efforts to source suitable alternative temporary accommodation until the new station is constructed so that the ambulance crew may be re-established in Edenderry as soon as possible."
