A building firm in Ballymena and a dairy firm in Coleraine have been fined for waste offences.
LacPatrick Dairies NI Ltd and Martin and Hamilton were fined £4,500 and £2,000 respectively at Coleraine Magistrates' Court on Friday, 01 July.
The firms were fined for infilling waste in a field adjacent to part of LacPatrick's Coleraine site.
Between January 2014 and May 2015 Officers from the Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA) disclosed 5,651 tonnes of clay, construction and demolition waste infilled, alongside plastics, metals and timber, without the proper authorisations, in a field at Creamery Road, Coleraine.
Martin and Hamilton subsequently cleared the waste they were responsible for from the site to the court's satisfaction.
