Private Firms Slammed Over Hike In Bin Charges

Sinn Fein has slammed private firms imposing a hike in bin charges.

Councillor Daithí Doolan said the charges are "unacceptable".

Dublin City Council (DCC) also supported a Sinn Fein motion calling for a meeting with the Minister for Housing, Planning and Local Government Simon Coveney TD.

He said: "While the increase will punish families, the Councillors on Dublin City Council also feel the proposed increased may well lead to even more illegal dumping. This will prove to be a costly consequence for this city.

"It is essential that Minister Coveney meets with a cross party delegation from Dublin City Council to discuss the matter. We need intervention at the highest level of government to assist in the battle against these outrageous price increases."
