Construction firm MEIC Ltd is to start work on the €500,000 North Quay Water Main Project in Drogheda on Monday, 11 July.
The scheme includes the replacement of 300m of ageing water mains along the North Quay which will improve the security of the water supply for residents in North East Drogheda, Baltry and Termonfeckin.
Work is expected to take approximately three months.
Padraig Farrell, Minor Programme Specialist at Irish Water said: "We are pleased that work is commencing to replace this ageing water main which will provide a more reliable water supply for our customers. Due to the complex location of the water main archaeological excavations were carried out along the route to ensure that the project had minimal impact on the structure of the North Quay wall. Due to the age and condition of the water main customers have been impacted by a number of disruptions over the years."
