SSE Airtricity has been awarded over 30 new contracts for the supply of metered electricity on behalf of all local authorities, which covers electricity supply to local government offices throughout Ireland.
The Office of Government Procurement (OGP) awarded the 31 deals to the firm under its Electricity Framework Agreement.
The collective value of the contracts is estimated to be in the region of €54 million. The projected cost reductions are more than €9 million over the three years of the contract.
Minister of State at the Departments of Finance and Public Expenditure & Reform Eoghan Murphy said: "Delivering this kind of value and long-term certainty of pricing on behalf of local authorities is a great achievement. These contracts will run until the end of June 2019 and will enable local authorities to budget effectively."
