The Northern Ireland Housing Executive (NIHE) is raising awareness of the urgent need for safe homes by building a shack from scrap materials.

The organisation has joined Habitat NI's challenge event which takes place on 03 and 04 September at the Village Centre in Hillsborough.

The teams will build a shack from scrap materials, sleep out in it overnight and experience some of the challenges faced by families living in poor housing.
