The SDLP has hit out at the Minister for Infrastructure over the delay of a street widening project in Co L'Derry.
Councillor Brian Tierney made the call after traffic lights broke at the Buncrana Road/Racecourse Road junction for the second time in four days.
He said: "This road is a gateway to the city, and it is used by many people on a regular basis as a link between Derry City and Donegal. The opening of the new recycling facility and other on-going developments in the area have further increased the traffic on the road.
"This disruption highlights the need for the planned Buncrana Road widening scheme. This project must be at the top of the list when it comes to the prioritisation of schemes in the new Programme for Government.
"We have been waiting years for progress on this scheme. I know that there was a small project of road improvements on this road over the summer, but it is simply not enough."
