Call For FF To Support SF Motion To Abolish Water Charges

Sinn Féin is urging Fianna Fáil to support the party's motion to abolish water charges in Ireland.

MEP Lynn Boylan confirmed the motion will come before the Dail on Wednesday, 28 September.

She said: "Fianna Fáil, after months of flip-flopping on this issue, now say that they support the abolition of household water charges. They must now be true to their most recent words on the issue.

"Actions speak louder than words and the Sinn Féin motion, co-signed by all Right2Change TDs, presents Fianna Fáil with a chance to act.

"The reality is that we do not have to wait nine months for a so-called expert commission to recommend the scrapping of water charges.

"The Dáil can vote in favour of abolition as early as next week and, in doing so, deliver what people actually voted for at the General Election in February. They didn't vote for a suspension of water charges. People want to see them scrapped."
