NI's Infrastructure Minister Chris Hazzard and Sinn Fein MLA Sean Lynch have visited Waterways Ireland in Fermanagh to look at its potential for development.
The pair also met with the Ulster Canal Advisory Forum.
Mr Lynch said: "The Minister has committed to reviewing the Ulster Canal as set out in the Fresh Start Agreement.
"This Forum provides an ideal opportunity for all stakeholders, who are committed to the Ulster Canal project, to work together to maximise the potential to take this project forward and create a place where people want to live, work, visit and invest."
