Construction work has been delayed to develop new homes in Ireland despite planning being approved.
Fianna Fáil TD for Kildare North, Frank O'Rourke, said the work is delayed because the necessary infrastructure such as ring-roads are not in place.
Deputy O'Rourke said: "The Government needs to focus on developing the necessary infrastructure to allow housing construction to begin where planning permission has been granted and outstanding appeals dealt with. We can't allow a situation to develop where new houses are constructed without the necessary infrastructure in place, this will only create further problems in the future. In particular the Government should improve public transport services between Kildare and Dublin, which will help make the county more attractive for commuters."
