New Sports Hub In Co Antrim Officially Opens

A new sports hub in Co Antrim has officially opened following a £4.5 million investment.

Following a major redevelopment scheme, the Allan Park Sports Hub now features a full size sports hall suitable for a range of indoor activities such as basketball, five-a-side football, badminton, netball and martial arts.

The Enkalon Foundation provided a £350,000 investment.

In addition to 10 indoor changing rooms, the new building also includes two state-of-the-art golf simulators.

The existing clubhouse has also been upgraded and redeveloped into changing facilities and a committee room. Upstairs, the licensed restaurant has been modernised, offering views across the golf course.

Outdoors, the three new floodlit 3G pitches, suitable for football, gaelic and rugby are being enjoyed by many local sports clubs on a weekly basis.

The new building at Allen Park has been named the Schierbeek Pavilion, in recognition of the contribution made to the Antrim area by former Enkalon Managing Director and Freeman of the Borough, Dr Roelf Schierbeek CBE.
