A new mental health services resource centre has been opened in north Belfast.
The Old See House facility was unveiled by Health Minister Michelle O’Neill at 603 Antrim Road today, 03 November.
The building is a new build centre providing a base for a number of community mental health teams covering North Belfast, as well as a number of Belfast-wide community mental health services.
Replacing the existing Day Hospital and Assessment and Rehabilitation unit, the centre has won architectural awards for its design, which makes the best use of light and outdoor space, setting the standard for future developments.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Minister O'Neill said: "Since taking the health portfolio in May this year I have consistently said that I am committed to tackling the stigma of mental health.
"We need to support people to keep well in the first place and when they need care and support, services should be safe and of the highest quality.
"This facility, the first new-build mental health facility to have been developed in Belfast for many years, will compliment the opening of a new Acute Inpatient Unit on the Belfast City Hospital site, which is currently under construction and expected to be completed by November 2018."
