McLaughlin & Harvey (McL&H) has begun work on a £150 million redevelopment project in Liverpool.
The Northern Irish firm have started building a new 67,000 sq ft Sainsbury's store on Great Homer Street in the city.
In addition, the contractor will also develop a sub-divided terrace with 13 individual retail units.
The store will include extensive shopfront glazing and brickwork to tie in with the local vernacular, while the retail terrace will feature timber cladding. A 463-space car park will also be built, as well as a petrol filling station, and a McDonalds drive-through restaurant.
The scheme is part of the major £150m regeneration, bringing more than 1,000 jobs to the area once completed in May 2017.
