Glen Agua Selected To Upgrade Water Treatment Plant In Co Kerry

Contractor Glan Agua has been awarded a contract to upgrade a water treatment plant in Kenmare, Co Kerry.

Irish Water appointed the firm following a €4.5 million investment in partnership with Kerry County Council.

The project will involve the upgrade of the existing water treatment plant in Kenmare to include a flocculation, coagulation and filtration process. It is estimated that works will start in early 2017 and will take approximately 12 months to complete.

Gerry O'Donnell, Regional Programme Lead with Irish Water, said: "The upgrades to the water treatment plant in Kenmare will address the water quality treatment deficiencies at Kenmare, which will enable the removal of 2,200 people from the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Remedial Action List (RAL). These works will provide a secure and sustainable supply of quality drinking water to Kenmare."
