A new water main in North Quay, Drogheda, has been connected.
The €500,000 project involved the replacement of 300 metres of aging water mains along the North Quay, which will improve the security of the water supply for residents in North East Drogheda, Baltry and Termonfeckin.
MEIC Ltd carried out the work on behalf of Irish Water.
Final reinstatement work will be completed early next week and Irish Water is assisting Louth County Council to facilitate upgrades to the public lighting in the area.
Padraig Farrell, Minor Programme Specialist for Irish Water, said: "We are pleased that work has been completed to replace this aging water mains which will provide a more reliable water supply for our customers. Due to the age and condition of the water main customers have been impacted by a number of disruptions over the years. Irish Water's investment to replace the water main will ensure that this historic issue is resolved. We thank customers in Drogheda for their patience while the work was carried out."
