Planning permission has been approved to transform office accommodation into apartments in L'Derry.

The premises, at 18-20 Bishop Street, will see the first and second floor of the building refurbished into 10 apartments.

The plans were submitted by Green Homes (NI) Ltd and approved by members of Derry City and Strabane District Council's Planning Committee.

Chairperson of the Committee, John Boyle, said: "Elected Members believe this new accommodation in the city centre will be something that will further develop and enhance the area and contribute significantly to the local economy. It is a well-known fact that there is a real shortage of available accommodation, for small families and individuals, particularly in the city centre. This is good news and we are hopeful that we will see further developments like this in the near future as we work towards an ambitious and exciting Local Develop Plan for the city and district."
