Over 270 properties in Tullamore, Co Offaly, have been connected to a new watermain to improve the supply for customers.
Irish Water invested €250,000 in the project at properties on O'Molloy street and Marian Place.
The scheme included connecting 274 homes directly to the new watermain.
Service connection pipes can be either separate (one pipe per property), or shared (two or more properties fed by a single common service pipe). Shared watermains located in customers' backyards can result in a high number of bursts and interruptions to the water supply for customers.
Padraig Farrell, Capital Programmes Lead for the East and Midlands Region, said: "The replacement of shared service connections in O'Molloy Street and Marian Place in Tullamore has ensured a more reliable and secure water supply for customers. Customers will also benefit from improved water pressure as they are now directly connected to the new water main and do not share a service connection with another property. This project is part of our ongoing investment in Ireland's water infrastructure."
