IDA Ireland is currently working on securing a buyer for HP Inc's Leixlip site in Leinster, Fine Gael has confirmed.
HP Inc announced it is to close its facility in the area with the loss of around 500 jobs.
However, Fine Gael TD for Kildare, Bernard Durkan, is working with relevant agencies to find a buyer for the site.
He said: "As a hi-tech hub in Leinster, Leixlip has a huge amount to offer any company considering locating there. We have a highly skilled workforce, and great transport links with easy access across the country via the M4, as well as of course access to Dublin city, and its port and airport.
"I know that the IDA is already working on helping to secure a buyer for the Leixlip site. The Minister for Jobs, Mary Mitchell O'Connor, has confirmed today that securing investment for Kildare and the surrounding region is a continuing priority.
"In the interim, before alternative employment can be found for HP staff, Minister Leo Varadkar has confirmed that the Department of Social Protection is going to brief staff on the State supports and re-training options available to them."
