Sinn Fein has hit out at the government over its decision to demolish Rutland Street National School in Dublin, despite funding being made available for the building to be restored.
Dublin Central TD Mary Lou McDonald is calling on the Taoiseach and the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform to "come clean" over the future intentions of the school.
Ms McDonald said: "Just last July the Taoiseach launched the North East Inner City Taskforce initiative which promised funding for the development of Rutland Street School into a centre to provide a permanent location and focal point for local community projects in the North East Inner City. We now learn that this may now not be the case with concern growing amongst the local community that the site has been earmarked for private development.
"The community is now demanding that Enda Kenny and Pascal Donahue come clean over the future intentions of Rutland Street School."
