It has been reported that permission has been approved by An Bord Pleanála to construct a new business development at Dublin Airport. The approval is for four Grade A buildings.
Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) secured planning permission for almost 500,000 sq ft of office space in a planned new 70-acre business park at Dublin Airport.
An Bord Pleanála granted permission for the construction of four individual Grade A, six- and seven-storey head office style buildings with an overall capacity of 448,854 sq ft.
The blocks will vary between 88,263 and 123,245 sq ft, and will adjoin a landscaped urban realm and city garden area.
The first two buildings – with overall floor areas 113,924 sq ft and 88,316 sq ft – are being tendered. It has been said that floor plates will be flexible in order to allow companies to expand into larger space as they grow.
Construction is expected to begin by early summer 2017 and be completed by summer 2018.
Up to 400 construction jobs will be created during the build phase.
DAA, which operates Dublin and Cork airports, is funding the initial phase of the development, while the longer term funding strategy for the project has yet to be finalised.
John Heffernan, Chief Development Officer with the DAA, is quoted as saying: "It will offer national and multinational companies an office environment of the highest quality with unrivalled connectivity within and outside Ireland and also, uniquely, the space for a business to significantly grow its operation in the same location."
