An interactive energy portal where visitors can explore Ireland's energy use since 1990 has been launched by the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI).
The visualisation tool uses data and figures from SEAI's publications on energy statistics and projections.
The interactive charts provide visitors with an easy interface to investigate energy use across different fuels and sectors of the economy such as households, industry, transport, public and commercial sectors. It is also possible to explore energy trends in Ireland since 1990, how energy use has evolved over time and projections out to 2030.
Dr Eimear Cotter, Head of Low Carbon Technologies, SEAI said: "This new online resource from SEAI dramatically improves the accessibility of Ireland's national energy statistics, combining historic trends with future scenarios. This tool allows users to, quickly and easily, explore relevant energy trends for Ireland. SEAI is committed to continually improving the accessibility of energy datasets such as these. This is a critically important way of improving understanding of Ireland's energy landscape and of informing the development of policy to positively influence a clean energy future for all."
