Call For Residents In Williamstown To Conserve Water

Irish Water customers supplied by the Williamstown Water Supply in Co Galway are being urged to conserve water over the next few days following heavy rain over the weekend.

The firm confirmed high turbidity levels are being detected in the raw water source supplying the Williamstown water treatment plant. It has affected the amount of available treated water in the system and at times demand of the scheme is not being met.


As a result, consumers supplied from the scheme will experience low water pressures or no water at times. It is expected this situation will continue for the next 24 to 36 hours given the weather forecast. Ongoing works at the plant to rectify the situation will reduce production further, however it is envisaged that the works will expedite the reduction of the high turbidity in the raw water and accelerate the resumption of normal service.
