NI Water is urging the public to attend an information event to discuss plans of a flood alleviation project in east Belfast.
The utility provider is currently completing the detailed design of a project for the Upper Newtownards Road area of Belfast.
The event will take place at Knock Methodist Centre between 4-7pm on Wednesday, 08 March.
The project will involve the upgrade of existing and installation of new sewers on the Upper Newtownards and Knock Road, as well as sewers within some other residential streets in the area.
It is being undertaken to resolve ongoing internal and external flooding issues and, when complete, will increase the capacity of the existing sewerage system in the area and reduce the risk of 'out of sewer' flooding and environmental pollution.
During the main sewer laying works, temporary lane closures will be required on the Upper Newtownards and Knock Road for safety reasons, although two-way traffic will be maintained. Two major crossings of the Upper Newtownards Road are also proposed which will be carried out using 'no-dig' trenchless techniques to reduce disruption as far as possible. To facilitate the trenchless works there will be localised road closures on some residential streets.
