A housing association in Northern Ireland has officially been opened for 40 years this month.

Clanmil Housing opened in March 1997 and has been providing high quality, affordable homes for people who need them.

The organisation owns and manages more than 4,300 homes throughout Northern Ireland for families, older people and for those who need support and employs 260 people.

Clanmil has also established a new homes development programme that will see around 1,800 additional homes provided, to rent or to buy, over the next five years.

Steve Amos, Chair of Clanmil, said: "So much has changed since 1977. Back then our focus was on housing for older people. Over the past 40 years we've branched out into lots of new areas of housing and services and now Clanmil provides homes and support for a wide range of people including thousands of families.

"One thing that hasn't changed is our passion for great homes and the people who live in them. 40 years on we continue to believe that everyone should have a comfortable, safe and affordable home within a vibrant and supportive community where they love living and can thrive."
