Irish Water is investing €275,000 to replace ageing watermains in Athlone.
The work will take place in Clonbrush West and Milltownpass.
Engineers are currently on site to replace the watermain in Clonbrusk and work is expected to commence in early April to replace the watermain in Milltownpass.
The investment will significantly reduce leakage on the network.
Padraig Farrell, Capital Programmes Lead, East and Midlands Region, said: "The replacement of the aging watermains in in Clonbrusk West and Milltownpass will deliver a more reliable and securer water supply for customers. The new watermains will reduce leakage on the network which is a key target for Irish Water. By 2021 Irish Water has committed in its Business Plan to reduce leakage on the public water network to less than 38%. This project is part of our ongoing investment in Ireland's water infrastructure."
