Large energy users in Ireland are being offered help to reduce their energy costs through a €10 million fund.
Launched by Smart Energy Services, a business unit in ESB, the fund provides advice, capital funding, and implementation of energy projects for customers who are large users of energy.
In 2016, Smart Energy Services partnered with 50 Irish and UK companies to help deliver energy savings of over €20 million. The division aims to achieve €50 million in savings with its partner companies by 2018.
ESB has worked with businesses from a variety of sectors to unlock smarter and more efficient ways of reducing energy costs including Tesco Ireland which saw an overall reduction of 25% in its energy costs for 2016 across its 150 retail stores. ESB and Tesco have also confirmed a new contract through to 2018.
John Walsh, Head of Smart Energy Services at ESB said: "This €10 million fund enables Smart Energy Services to build on its rapid growth over the last twelve months and demonstrates the high potential of reducing energy bills for some of Ireland’s largest users of energy. On the back of a series of large contract wins last year, Smart Energy Services have ambitious expansion plans and will become a driver of growth in ESB over the next four to five years."
