Sinn Féin has hit out at a number of bin companies who are continuing to breach their government agreement on pay by weight.

Mr Dessie Ellis TD said companies are disregarding the agreement made last summer and slammed the Taoiseach after he confirmed the issue has not been discussed at Cabinet meetings.

He said: "This issue needs to be addressed immediately and the Minister and Cabinet need to discuss this to stop people being gouged. The Government now need to revisit the whole situation and I firmly believe the only way to have an environmentally sound and fair waste system is put waste management back into the hands of the local authorities."
