ESB Announces Apprentice Network Technician Of The Year

Irish energy firm ESB Networks has awarded Dan Phillips its Apprentice Network Technician of the Year.

Mr Philips from Rathfarnham in south Dublin, won against three other finalists shortlisted James O'Hanlon, Luke Ryan and Graham Sutton.

The event took place at the ESB Networks Training Centre in Portlaoise and saw the four apprentices engage in a range of exercises, which were assessed by a judging panel.

The tasks were selected to simulate real life conditions faced by ESB Networks Technicians. They included sub-station wiring, cable commissioning, transformer tests and ATV driving and inspection.

ESB Networks Managing Director Marguerite Sayers said: "I warmly congratulate Dan Phillips for winning out on the day. With safety a core ESB value, meticulous attention to detail by all finalists was required. It is hugely satisfying to see first-hand the range of skills displayed by each of the four finalists."
