Contractors Dawson WAM and RPS have started work on a new pumping station in Strabane.
The work is being done to replace the current Bridge Street Wastewater Pumping Station which is over 40 years old.
All the new tanks will be below ground and the old concrete building which is currently on site will be demolished and replaced with a smaller structure.
The new pumping station will be equipped with new pumps, a new control panel and will have additional storage capacity to help reduce the risk of flooding and cater for future development. The scheme will also improve the water quality in the local River Mourne, with additional screening installed to improve the quality of any flows that may discharge to the river. It is anticipated that all work will be completed by Autumn 2017.
