The Housing Minister has said the practice of placing homeless families in hotels "has to stop".
Minister Eoghan Murphy TD made the statement following a meeting wit the four Dublin Local Authorities.
The purpose of the meeting was to conduct a detailed examination of the work being done to help homeless families who are being accommodated in hotels and B&Bs on an emergency basis to exit that accommodation. Minister Murphy said: "This is the most unacceptable aspect of the current homeless and housing crisis. Local authorities are doing exceptional work but we cannot rest until that work is done. The numbers and options available to us need to be interrogated further and I will be keeping the situation under daily review."
