Fianna Fail has hit out after the Tánaiste confirmed there are no plans to develop new buildings at a business park in Cork, despite it lying empty since 2002.
Cork East TD, Kevin O'Keeffe called on the IDA to consider building or installing facilities at the Fermoy Business and Technology Park in an effort to show potential investors what the site could be used as.
Deputy O'Keeffe said: "In my question to the Tánaiste, I asked what plans she or the IDA had, to construct buildings or facilities to help attract investment.
"Unfortunately, her reply was deeply disappointing. There are no plans to build any facilities, according to the Minister as not having pre-determined layouts ‘should help make the site more attractive to potential’.
"This approach may have been a suitable plan in the past, but it’s clear that 15 years of the Park being empty suggests to me than a blank canvass approach isn't that enticing to investors.
"I think it's time for the IDA to consider building or installing facilities in an effort to show potential investors what the site could be used as."
