Residents on the Williamstown water supply in Galway are being urged to conserve their water.
Irish Water, working in partnership with Galway County Council, issued a water conservation notice as the reservoir levels have reached a "critical point".
Demand is currently very high on the scheme and customers are advised they may experience low pressure while demand continues to outstrip supply.
Leak detection is currently being carried out in the area, however early indicators show that the rise in demand is due to seasonal agriculture activity in the area.
With demand on water supplies expected to increase significantly over the summer months, Irish Water is urging the public to help conserve water and reduce loss of water in the network due to leakage.
