Fianna Fail is urging the Government to give all landowners in Ireland compensation if electric cables or pylons are placed on their land.
Currently, landowners who engage with Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) get access to a consultant who acts on their behalf to get them the best possible compensation.
However, the same system is not applied to landowners who are having pylons placed on their land.
Cork North West TD, Aindrias Moynihan, said: "Take for example, landowners in the Macroom area are negotiating with, or have negotiated with both TII and Eirgrid regarding the N22 project and the installation of new electric networks respectively.
"Those negotiating with TII get a consultant, but those dealing with Eirgrid don't. How could anyone consider this fair or acceptable?
"This is a scenario that is repeating itself across the country.
"There needs to be fair play and fair treatment for all landowners engaging with state agencies. They deserve the best possible deal and I worry that those landowners who need to negotiate directly are losing out."
