A boil water notice for some Irish Water customers in Galway has been lifted.
The notice, issued to consumers on the Kilkerrin-Moylough Water Supply Scheme, was put in place on 28 June following persistent heavy rainfall which caused a deterioration in the raw water source.
As a result, the plant was unable to produce fully compliant water.
Irish Water and Galway County Council worked to ensure that a safe and compliant supply of water was returned to the 1,532 consumers that are served by the supply as soon as possible. Sampling and monitoring was carried out on the raw water source and following consultation with the HSE the boil water notice has been lifted as the water supply is again compliant with drinking water regulations.
