Mercer's Institute for Successful Ageing (MISA) developed by BAM has won the Best Health Building category at the RIAI Architectural Awards.
The awards celebrate the quality of work carried out by RIAI members in 2016 and highlight the contribution that architects make to society for everyone's benefit.
The centre of excellence was constructed was designed by Moloney O'Beirne and O'Connell Mahon Architects. Built within the St James's Hospital campus in Dublin, it provides patient care as well as educational and training programmes. The seven-storey building accommodates research facilities, consultation spaces, meeting space, catering facilities, day areas, roof terrace spaces, a courtyard and naturally lit foyer, conference rooms and 76 ensuite bedrooms with further ward spaced to accommodate a total of 100 beds.
