Independent diagnostic imaging provider, Affidea, has built a new €2.6 million medical scanning centre in Waterford.
The development is part of an overall €15m investment in the Irish healthcare sector by the company and will see the multi-modality scanning centre serve as a primary care diagnostic scanning facility; offering MRI, Ultrasound, X-ray and DXA to thousands of patients.
In addition, the new facility will create 10 new jobs.
Tom Finn, Chief Executive Officer of Affidea, said: "I’m delighted to open the new Affidea centre in Waterford today (07 July), which heralds an era of greater accessibility to medical scans for the people of the city and local areas.
"Patients can now receive timely attention quickly, professionally and to the highest of standards in a primary care environment, rather than a hospital-based setting. Affidea currently caters for the population in the South East with our centres in Kilkenny and Naas; however, the investment in this centre further reinforces our commitment to make scans accessible and affordable for everyone."
