The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) has welcomed commitments for further funding for energy efficiency, renewable energy, electric vehicles and renewable heat.

The decision was made at Special Cabinet Meeting on climate change.

SEAI Chief Executive Officer Jim Gannon said: "The cabinet meeting underlines the importance of this issue and how it has, very recently, become a priority across government departments. SEAI will be at the core of this work, building on our track record of working with almost all Government Departments in addressing climate change over our 15 year history. Our investment, initiatives and information help consumers, business and communities every day to make the right choice and to feel empowered to make real changes. This is not a matter of policy working in isolation, our role is to provide that link that turns policy into reality on the ground and our experience in delivering real impact in addressing climate change will go a long way to turning Government commitments into national reality."
