A total of €1 million has been awarded to the Cork Harbour Greenway project to extend the existing facilities.
The money will be used to develop a link that will connect Glenbrook to Carrigaline to provide for a harbour-long greenway.
Cork County Council has also received funding for a number of projects under the 2017 Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme.
The scheme provides for the development of new outdoor recreational infrastructure and the maintenance, enhancement and promotion of existing outdoor recreational infrastructure.
Within the county, a total of 12 projects have received funding of up to €10,000 each which will involve Cork County Council working with local communities to enhance local amenities, demonstrating the strong working relationship between the Council and local groups.
Cllr Declan Hurley, Mayor of the County of Cork, said: "Securing funding of € 1 million for the Cork Harbour Greenway project is a significant step towards the development of the link that will connect the greenway paths between Carrigaline and Crosshaven and between Passage West and the City for the benefit of local communities, wider Metropolitan Cork and visitors to the county."
