Contractor Quinn Automatic has been appointed to carry out sewer rehabilitation work in Downpatrick, Co Down.
The work on Irish Street is to take place in mid-August and is expected to be completed in five weeks.
In a statement NI Water said: "The majority of the works will be undertaken during normal working hours. However, due to their location, and in order to minimise disruption to businesses, road users and the public, it may be necessary for some work to be undertaken during evening/night time hours. We will do everything within our means to keep noise levels to a minimum during these times.
"Where possible the work will be carried out using 'no-dig' trenchless techniques to minimise disruption, although at some locations ‘open-dig’ will be necessary due to the condition of the existing sewers."
When complete the project will provide the community with improved sewerage systems that are less prone to failure from blockages and sewer collapses and will also reduce the risks of 'out of sewer' flooding and environmental pollution.
