Construction work on a new playground and sensory garden in west Belfast has been completed.
Belfast City Council invested £200,000 on the development located on the Blacks Road.
The playground features a range of play equipment for children of all ages and abilities, brightly coloured safety surfacing, an accessible path, fencing to secure the site and tree planting to provide screening and privacy for adjacent properties.
The Department for Communities also invested £130,000 to develop a sensory garden on site.
Councillor Matt Garrett, Deputy Chairperson of the Council’s People and Communities Committee said: "Through our Belfast Agenda, we’ve committed to making the city a welcoming, safe, fair and inclusive place, where everyone experiences health and wellbeing. This investment in Blacks Road is not only providing a safe space for children and young people to play outdoors and get active, but it’s also creating an attractive place for people of all ages to come to socialise, relax and enjoy nature."
The sensory garden, delivered by the Department for Communities, with support from Council through project design and management of the construction work on the project, creates an outdoor classroom, a willow den, community growing area, musical sensory zone, sand play area and specialist structures to promote motor skills development and spatial awareness.
