Work has started on a Sewer Rehabilitation project in Newtownards, Co Down.
Stage two of the NI Water project is underway after a stage one investigation found a number of sections of the existing sewers are in very poor condition and need repaired to avoid potential future collapse or flooding issues.
The work involves the repair of short sections of sewer at isolated locations as well as the laying of some sections of new replacement pipelines and associated works. It is expected that work on the second phase will continue until the end of November, with further phases to follow at other locations.
It will be necessary at some locations to have lane/road closures in place in order for the works to be carried out safely.
Work will be undertaken at the following locations within the town centre: Church Street, Regent Street, Frances Street, Castle Street, Market Street, West Street, Brewery Lane, Mill Street, High Street, Ann Street, Greenwell Street and Manor Court, Mary Street and Canal Row.
Diversions will be put in place during the works.
